Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika has come out to firmly dismiss claims linking her to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s political camp, following growing speculation in the Mount Kenya region.
Gachagua has in recent weeks intensified his political activities, calling on residents of Mount Kenya to rally behind his direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He has openly urged the region to abandon President William Ruto’s re-election bid, accusing the Head of State of being untrustworthy. His remarks have sparked sharp reactions, especially from leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Governor Kihika, who has previously opposed Gachagua’s political approach, found herself at the centre of controversy after reports emerged alleging that she was planning to ditch the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party for the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), which is associated with Gachagua.
However, through her official social media platforms, Kihika moved swiftly to set the record straight. She dismissed the claims as false and misleading, maintaining that she remains a loyal member of the UDA party. The Nakuru governor emphasized that at no point has she suggested or agreed to abandon UDA.
Her clarification comes amid heightened political realignments in the region, as leaders position themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
