Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stirred a heated political debate after alleging that President William Ruto is quietly seeking to make contact with Wiper Party leader and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking during a Sunday church service in Kasarani, Nairobi County an event also attended by Kalonzo Gachagua claimed he has reliable intelligence indicating that the Head of State has been attempting to reach out to the Wiper leader in recent weeks.
According to Gachagua, the President’s alleged move is part of a broader strategy aimed at destabilizing the emerging United Opposition coalition, which brings together leaders such as Gachagua, Kalonzo, Eugene Wamalwa, George Natembeya, Martha Karua, and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
The coalition has been actively crisscrossing the country, rallying supporters and declaring its intention to unseat President Ruto in the 2027 general election.

Gachagua told congregants that Ruto’s purported plan revolves around isolating and eventually weakening the united front by convincing Kalonzo to break ranks.
However, he asserted that Kalonzo has taken a firm stand and has been deliberately avoiding any engagement with the President. Gachagua praised the Wiper leader, saying his consistency and loyalty to the coalition remains intact despite pressure.
“Kalonzo has sensed the trap,” Gachagua said. “He knows the intention is to slow down the united opposition, but we are steadfast. Nothing is going to stop this movement.”
The remarks sparked murmurs within the congregation and quickly ignited conversations online, with Kenyans offering sharply divided views.
Some interpreted the statement as a sign of growing political anxiety within the opposition camp, while others viewed it as a genuine warning about alleged State efforts to interfere with emerging alliances.
As the 2027 race takes shape, the rivalry between Kenya Kwanza and the united opposition continues to intensify, setting the stage for what could become one of the most competitive elections in recent history.
