Raila Odinga Jr., the son of the late Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, has broken his silence following intensifying tensions within the party sparked by his sister Winnie Odinga’s public rebuke of Oburu Odinga.
Winnie recently accused Oburu of moving too fast to initiate talks between ODM and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), with an eye on the 2027 General Election.
Her stance has fueled speculation of a widening rift within the Odinga family and the party’s succession politics following Raila Odinga’s death in October 2025.

In a statement shared on Friday, Raila Odinga Jr. distanced himself from the unfolding political drama, insisting he is not part of the succession battles. “I’m not a politician. I love everyone and respect everyone,” he said, according to remarks dated January 23, 2026.
Odinga Jr. further revealed that Oburu Odinga has agreed to a family meeting scheduled for the 1st of next month, aimed at addressing internal differences.
However, he expressed a desire for the talks to happen sooner, citing confusion over the current developments. “I don’t know what is happening; don’t involve me in those politics,” he added.
His remarks underscore growing unease within the Odinga family as ODM navigates leadership questions amid shifting political alliances.
