Kileleshwa Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has publicly responded to claims that he attempted to shoot Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Hon. Babu Owino, during an altercation at a Nairobi nightclub, strongly denying the allegations and terming them false.
The claims were first made by Babu Owino, who alleged that Alai confronted him at the club, drew a firearm, and threatened to shoot him over accusations that Owino had previously attacked Alai’s wife online. According to Owino, the incident was serious enough to warrant a formal report at Kilimani Police Station, prompting public debate and concern over the conduct of elected leaders.
However, speaking after the allegations gained traction, Alai dismissed the claims, insisting that no firearm was involved at any point during the incident. The outspoken MCA accused the Embakasi East MP of lying and exaggerating the events that transpired that night.
Alai narrated that the confrontation began when Babu Owino approached his table at the club and attempted to greet him. He claimed that he declined to engage, a move that allegedly angered Owino. According to Alai, the situation escalated verbally, and he admitted to pushing Owino but maintained that the altercation did not involve any weapon.

“I did not draw a gun or threaten anyone,” Alai stated, adding that the matter was being blown out of proportion for political reasons. He further challenged Owino to provide evidence to support his claims.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with Kenyans expressing concern over rising tensions among political leaders and calling for restraint. Police are yet to issue an official statement detailing the status of investigations or whether any charges will be preferred.
As investigations continue, the incident underscores growing concerns about public conduct, accountability, and the need for leaders to resolve disputes without resorting to confrontation.
