The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has issued a formal show-cause letter to its Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, over allegations of gross misconduct and repeated violation of party resolutions, signaling escalating internal tensions within the party.
In a statement released on Thursday, the party accused Sifuna of undermining ODM’s collective authority through a series of actions deemed inconsistent with its official position.
Among the accusations are making public statements that contradict party resolutions, failing to attend key party meetings, and participating in parallel political initiatives not sanctioned by the party leadership.
ODM further stated that such conduct has raised concerns about discipline and unity within its ranks at a time when cohesion is considered critical ahead of future political engagements.
The leadership emphasized that all party officials are expected to adhere strictly to established structures and decisions.

As part of the disciplinary process, Sifuna has been summoned to appear before a panel constituted by the National Executive Committee (NEC) under the party’s Internal Dispute Resolution Mechanism (IDRM).
The hearing is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10 a.m., with the venue to be communicated later.
The party has also directed Sifuna to submit a formal written response to the show-cause letter by Wednesday, April 8.
ODM warned that failure to respond within the stipulated timeline would result in further disciplinary action being taken without additional consultation.
The move underscores growing internal scrutiny within ODM as it seeks to enforce discipline among its top officials.
Sifuna, who also serves as Nairobi Senator, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations, leaving political observers keenly watching how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
