Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga has launched a sharp attack on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of misrepresenting the position of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking in Kisumu during the Linda Ground initiative attended by several ODM leaders and supporters, Wanga made it clear that the party would not tolerate internal confusion at a time when unity is crucial.
Her remarks come amid growing tensions within ODM following the passing of its longtime leader, Raila Odinga, whose legacy continues to shape the party’s direction.
Addressing the gathering, Wanga claimed that Sifuna’s recent public statements have not reflected the official stand of the party, leaving members uncertain about ODM’s true position on key national matters.

She stressed that while Sifuna remains a member of the party, he does not have the authority to issue statements on behalf of ODM without proper consultation.
“If he wants to stay in ODM, he is welcome. But he must understand that he cannot continue speaking for the party in a way that contradicts agreed positions,” Wanga stated firmly, drawing cheers from sections of the crowd.
The governor emphasized that ODM’s leadership structures remain intact and that communication on party matters must follow established channels. She urged members to remain loyal and avoid being swayed by statements that could divide the party.
Her warning signals deepening cracks within ODM as rival factions seek to assert control and influence the party’s future. Political observers say the public exchange between senior leaders could shape the party’s stability in the coming months, especially in its traditional strongholds like Kisumu.
As tensions simmer, all eyes remain on ODM’s top leadership to restore unity and clarity within the party ranks.
