Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has resurfaced after weeks of political silence, marking a dramatic return to the public arena with a fiery warning to President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Since the passing of the late Orange Democratic Party leader Hon. Raila Odinga, Gachagua had noticeably kept off the political limelight, sparking speculation about his next move and political future.
However, on Friday, while attending a funeral ceremony in Murang’a County, the former second in command broke his silence with a bold message directed at the Head of State and his close aide, Farouk Kibet.
Gachagua accused President Ruto of allegedly sending his aide, Farouk Kibet, to “attack the Kikuyu community” by labeling them selfish and ungrateful.

The outspoken politician expressed deep disappointment over what he termed as betrayal from the Kenya Kwanza administration, claiming that the Mount Kenya region had been sidelined despite being at the center of Ruto’s 2022 election victory.
“I want to tell the President that we will not sit back as our people are insulted. We gave him overwhelming support, and now he is using his men to abuse us. We shall speak with our votes in 2027,” Gachagua declared amid loud cheers from the crowd.
He further vowed to unite the Mount Kenya region, saying they would no longer be taken for granted in national politics.
His remarks have reignited political tension within the ruling coalition, with analysts predicting a possible realignment in the coming months as succession politics begin to take shape.
Gachagua’s return marks the beginning of what could be a heated political season, with his supporters already rallying behind his renewed defiance.
