Panic in State House: Gachagua Claims Ruto Rescheduled Trip to Counter Sifuna’s Rising Wave
NAIROBI, Kenya — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a sharp rebuke against President William Ruto, alleging that the Head of State is in a full-fledged panic over the rapid momentum building within the united opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a political briefing, Gachagua claimed that President Ruto has grown increasingly uneasy watching the strategic ground moves executed by opposition figures.
He specifically singled out Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, asserting that the young lawmaker’s growing national appeal has rattled State House and forced a hasty recalculation of the administration’s political strategy.
According to the former Deputy President, President Ruto was originally scheduled to visit Meru County for official engagements.

However, Gachagua alleged that upon realizing Sifuna was drawing massive crowds in Busia, the President abruptly abandoned his Meru plans and rushed to the Western region in a direct bid to counter Sifuna’s influence.
“The President is panicked,” Gachagua stated. “He can see the political tide shifting across the country. He was supposed to go to Meru, but after seeing the wave Senator Sifuna generated in Busia, he quickly diverted his itinerary to rush west. They are desperately trying to extinguish a fire that is already spreading nationwide.”
Gachagua warned that the administration’s reactive tactics would fail to stop the united opposition front. He accused the government of resorting to roadside political containment rather than addressing pressing economic issues facing ordinary citizens.
As political realignments intensify ahead of 2027, the clash over Western region dominance underscores the growing high-stakes rivalry between the State House establishment and an emboldened opposition coalition.
The President’s office has yet to issue an official response regarding the sudden adjustments to his regional travel schedule.
