Babu Owino Reaffirms Opposition Unity After High-Profile Nairobi Strategy Meeting
NAIROBI, Kenya — Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has dispelled rumors of internal wrangles within the Linda Mwananchi movement after holding a high-level consultative meeting with key opposition figures in Nairobi.
The meeting brought together top principals of the political movement, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna—who is positioning himself to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election—and former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, alongside several other leaders.
Photos circulated online showed the leaders gathered in a strategic session, underscoring efforts to present a unified front amid growing political realignment in the country.
Taking to his official social media platforms shortly after the meeting, Babu Owino dismissed reports of a political fallout between himself and Sifuna. He emphasized that their focus remains squarely on strengthening opposition cooperation ahead of the upcoming political contest.

“WE ARE MORE UNITED THAN EVER,” Babu stated in his post. “Today, we held a successful meeting with the Linda Mwananchi Principals to consolidate our bases, strengthen our cooperation, and reaffirm our shared commitment to working together.”
He added: “We agreed that achieving our common political objective requires unity, coordination, and a willingness to work together. By bringing our respective strengths and networks together, we can build a stronger and more united movement for the journey ahead.”
The statement comes amid heightened public interest in the dynamics within the Linda Mwananchi coalition. Political observers have been closely tracking the relationship between Babu Owino, who has eyes on the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, and Sifuna, who is spearheading a national campaign.
