Babu Owino, Sifuna Signal Unity as Linda Mwananchi Principals Meet in Nairobi
NAIROBI, KENYA — Leaders of the Linda Mwananchi movement have held a high-stakes reconciliation meeting in Nairobi to iron out emerging political differences and map out a unified strategy ahead of future elections.
The consultative session brought together Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino and Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna alongside other coalition principals.
The meeting follows days of intense online friction between blogger factions loyal to both politicians over supremacy within the movement and the choice of political vehicle.
Tensions within the opposition outfit escalated after reports emerged detailing disagreements on how the movement should position itself politically, particularly following Babu Owino’s announcement regarding his political party trajectory.

The online exchanges sparked fears among supporters that supremacy battles between the two vocal leaders could derail the platform’s objectives.
However, in a post shared on his official Facebook page following the meeting, Babu Owino dismissed claims of a permanent rift, reassuring their base that the leadership remains firmly aligned.
“WE ARE MORE UNITED THAN EVER,” Babu wrote. “Today, we held a successful meeting with the Linda Mwananchi Principals to consolidate our bases, strengthen our cooperation, and reaffirm our shared commitment to working together.”
He emphasized that achieving their collective goals requires seamless coordination and leverage of their individual political networks.
“We agreed that achieving our common political objective requires unity, coordination, and a willingness to work together. By bringing our respective strengths and networks together, we can build a stronger and more united movement for the journey ahead,” the MP added.
The meeting marks a major attempt by Linda Mwananchi leaders to project stability, silence detractors, and streamline their strategy as they prepare for upcoming political engagements.
