Kibwana said Linda Mwananchi, despite its imperfections, represents a fresh breath of air in Kenya’s political landscape. However, he stressed that the movement must guard against ethnic politics if it hopes to maintain its broader appeal.
In a pointed message directed at Sifuna, Babu Owino and their team, Kibwana invoked the biblical story of King Solomon, warning them against allowing the movement to be divided.
He suggested that history and Kenya’s younger generation would judge the leaders harshly if they allowed internal disagreements to destroy what they have built.
“History and Kenya’s Gen-Z-ote will judge you harshly if like the lady before Solomon, you decide Baby LM be sliced into two,” Kibwana said.
His remarks come at a sensitive moment for Linda Mwananchi, with questions surrounding leadership, political alliances and the movement’s direction continuing to attract attention.
The warning also places renewed focus on the relationship between Sifuna and Babu Owino, who have both emerged as visible figures within the political movement. Their cooperation could prove significant as the group seeks to establish itself as a national political force.
Kibwana’s message was ultimately a call for unity and restraint. Rather than allowing disagreements to create rival camps, he urged the leaders to protect the movement’s wider identity and avoid ethnic divisions.
With political activity already intensifying ahead of the 2027 elections, the question now is whether Linda Mwananchi’s leaders can keep their differences from becoming the very force that threatens to split the movement.
