Kaluma announced that he had sued Standard Group PLC and journalist Herman Kamariki over an article titled “Homa Bay Bloody Hands,” which was published on KTN News and in the Standard Newspaper.
The MP described the publication as fabricated, false, sensational, malicious and defamatory. He says the report caused serious concern and that he has chosen to pursue the matter through legal channels rather than allow the allegations to go unchallenged.
“I have sued him,” Kaluma stated, making it clear that his response will not stop at public criticism.
The legislator also disclosed that he is pursuing disciplinary proceedings against the media organisation and Kamariki. His announcement signals a potentially wider dispute over journalistic standards, accuracy and accountability in reporting politically sensitive events.
The controversy comes against the backdrop of heightened political tensions in Homa Bay, where competing narratives surrounding recent events have continued to attract national attention.
