“We Are Hyenas and We Will Eat Him Politically”: Gachagua Fires Back at Duale, Vows 2027 Ballot Revenge
EMBU, Kenya — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a fiery response to controversial remarks made by Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale targeting the Kikuyu community.
Speaking in Embu County following the official opening of Democracy and Civic Empowerment Party (DCP) offices, Gachagua directed his sharpest criticism directly at State House.
He claimed that Duale did not act on his own accord, asserting instead that President William Ruto dispatched Duale to launch the verbal attack against the Mt. Kenya region.
Gachagua rallied the energized crowd with an unapologetic counteroffensive, telling supporters that the insult would backfire at the polls.
“Hello my people, you saw how Duale called us hyenas. We are hyenas, and we will eat him politically come the 2027 general election. We will teach him a lesson that he will never forget,” Gachagua declared.

The former Deputy President emphasized that the electorate from the region would express their discontent peacefully but decisively.
According to Gachagua, the response to the administration’s rhetoric will not be delivered through arguments, but at the ballot box by voting President Ruto out of office in 2027.
The political spat marks a sharp escalation in tensions within the nation’s political landscape. Gachagua’s declarations in Embu signal a broader movement to consolidate the vote-rich Mt. Kenya block into an opposition powerhouse ahead of the next election cycle.
As early political realignments take shape, Gachagua’s strong stance highlights an increasingly fragile relationship between the current administration and its former core voting stronghold, setting up a high-stakes showdown for the 2027 polls.
