Video: UDA Actions Toward Oburu Odinga Spark Anger From Gladys Wanga
Tensions are emerging between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), raising fresh questions about the stability of their political cooperation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
This follows an incident captured in a viral video involving Oburu Odinga that has drawn sharp criticism from Gladys Wanga.
In the footage, a section of UDA leaders and supporters is seen chanting party slogans during a meeting held in the Nyanza region—an area widely considered an ODM stronghold.
Speaking after the incident, Wanga expressed her displeasure, terming the actions disrespectful and politically provocative. She argued that the move undermines the spirit of cooperation that has recently been associated with the two factions.
According to her, such displays risk eroding trust and could destabilize any existing or future political arrangements.

Wanga further emphasized the importance of respecting regional political dynamics, noting that Nyanza has historically been aligned with ODM.
She warned that attempts by UDA to assert dominance in the region could be interpreted as intimidation rather than healthy competition.
“Zoning is critical in maintaining a strong and respectful coalition,” Wanga stated, adding that ODM should not be undermined in its traditional support bases.
The incident highlights growing unease within ODM ranks over what some perceive as UDA’s increasing political assertiveness in regions considered opposition strongholds.
Analysts suggest that such developments could signal early cracks in what had been viewed as a strategic alignment between the two parties.
While UDA officials are yet to formally respond to the claims, the episode underscores the delicate balance required to sustain political partnerships in a highly competitive environment.
As the 2027 race slowly takes shape, observers will be keenly watching whether both sides can manage their differences or if the current tensions will escalate into a full-blown political fallout.
