Fuel Protests Day 2: Chaos Escalates as Youths Hijack Police Vehicle in Kiserian
NAIROBI, Kenya — Tensions reached a boiling point on Tuesday as nationwide fuel protests entered their second day.
Amidst widespread transport paralysis and running battles, a stunning scene unfolded in Kiserian, Kajiado County, where a group of daring youths hijacked a police vehicle and drove it through the streets.
In a video that has since gone viral on Kenyan social media platforms, ecstatic demonstrators can be seen commandeering the government vehicle.
With several youths hanging dangerously off the sides and others cheering from the roof, a driver from the crowd took the wheel, navigating the vehicle through a sea of jubilant protesters.
The bold act left onlookers astonished, serving as a stark symbol of the escalating defiance against the authorities.

Talks Collapse, Strike to Continue
The dramatic incident in Kiserian came hours after a high-stakes crisis meeting between the government and transport stakeholders collapsed completely. The closed-door negotiations involved officials from:
- The Ministry of Energy
- The Ministry of Transportation
- The Motor Vehicle Owners Association
“The government is discharging wrong and misleading information to the public,” an association representative stated firmly after the meeting. “We will not be intimidated. The strike continues until fuel prices are lowered.”
National Paralysis
The gridlock has left thousands of commuters stranded across major towns, with public transport services fully grounded. Commuters have been forced to walk long distances, while business owners have shut down operations due to rising security concerns.
With transport bosses refusing to back down and the youth taking increasingly radical measures on the streets, the government faces immense pressure to resolve the economic stalemate before the country plunges deeper into lawlessness.
