Video: Trouble for Gachagua in Nakuru After Explosive Remarks
NAKURU, Kenya — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is facing intense political backlash following controversial remarks made during a recent political gathering at his home in Wamunyoro, Nyeri County.
A viral video circulating online shows angry women in Nakuru taking to the streets to protest against Gachagua, demanding an immediate public apology and full retraction of his comments.
Protests Erupt Over Ol-Kalou Remarks
The uproar stems from a meeting hosted at Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence, where the former Deputy President launched scathing attacks against United Democratic Alliance (UDA) women leaders who campaigned for the ruling party candidate in the Ol-Kalou campaign.
During his address, Gachagua openly ridiculed the female politicians, sparking immediate outrage across the Rift Valley region.

Among his main targets was Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika. Demonstrators in Nakuru accused Gachagua of targeted political bullying and gender-based disrespect.
“His remarks were derogatory, disrespectful, and completely uncalled for,” declared one of the protest leaders in Nakuru. “We are demanding that Rigathi Gachagua apologize to Governor Susan Kihika and all women leaders immediately.”
Mounting Political Pressure
The protests highlight growing tensions within Mount Kenya and Rift Valley political circles following recent heated electoral contests.
Demonstrators emphasized that political differences should be addressed through policy and constructive debate rather than personal attacks on female leaders.
As the video continues to trend across social media platforms, political analysts note that Gachagua’s fiery rhetoric may further isolate him among key voting blocs in the region.
Gachagua has yet to issue an official statement addressing the Nakuru protests or the demands for a retraction.
