Sifuna Hints at Broad Alliance with Gachagua to Unseat Ruto in 2027
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has signaled a potential political realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election, suggesting a willingness to partner with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to challenge the current administration.
Speaking during a candid interview with a local radio station on Tuesday, the vocal lawmaker and leader of the Linda Mwananchi initiative addressed growing speculation regarding a “super-alliance” between opposition figures and the impeached former Deputy President.
Sifuna emphasized that the political landscape is shifting rapidly and that the primary objective of his movement remains clear: removing President William Ruto from power.

When pressed on whether he would share a ticket or a platform with Gachagua, Sifuna remained strategic, noting that the Kenyan electorate is “watching keenly” as political events unfold.
“Our main target is to send the Kenya Kwanza administration home in 2027,” Sifuna stated. “If achieving that goal means working with everyone within the Republic of Kenya who shares this vision, then we will do so. At the right time, we will give the country a clear direction.”
The Linda Mwananchi Factor
As the leader of the Linda Mwananchi initiative, Sifuna has been traversing the country, mobilizing citizens against the high cost of living and government policies. His latest comments suggest that the movement is transitionary, moving from civil advocacy to building a broad-based political coalition.
The possibility of a Sifuna-Gachagua alliance would represent a seismic shift in Kenyan politics, bridging the gap between the opposition stronghold and the Mt. Kenya region. While critics argue such a partnership would be a “marriage of convenience,” Sifuna maintained that the priority is the “liberation of Kenyans” from economic hardship.
As the 2027 race begins to take shape, Sifuna’s remarks have set the stage for what could be the most unpredictable election cycle in Kenya’s history.
