National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula faces a political storm over his future in Parliament.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now claims Wetangula will not retain his position next year.

Gachagua Signals Shift in Parliament Power Dynamics

Gachagua made the remarks at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County.
He addressed a delegation from Nyandarua County. Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha and Senator John Methu led the team.
Gachagua stated his party will command numbers in Parliament after the next polls.

“After the elections, our party will have the majority in Parliament. We will not re-elect Wetangula as Speaker.” — Rigathi Gachagua

Kenya Kwanza Coalitions Face Rising Internal Battles

Wetangula serves as the Ford Kenya party leader.
He joined President William Ruto alongside Musalia Mudavadi shortly before the 2022 polls.
Their coalition defeated Raila Odinga by roughly 200,000 votes.
That victory secured key parliamentary leadership slots for western Kenya leaders.
Now, political realignments threaten that balance of power.

The Speaker position depends entirely on parliamentary support.
A party with majority seats holds total control over the vote.

Gachagua’s strong warning signals early battles for parliamentary control.
Political tension continues to rise as key allies rethink their future alliances.
