2027 Politics: Rigathi Gachagua Issues Tough Demands to Kalonzo, Sifuna and Matiang’i
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued fresh conditions to top political leaders eyeing the presidency in 2027.
He addressed a delegation from Nyandarua County at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County. Gachagua explicitly targeted Kalonzo Musyoka, Edwin Sifuna, and Fred Matiang’i.
Respect Mount Kenya Region First
Gachagua stated that any presidential candidate seeking support must first show absolute respect to Mount Kenya.
He warned contenders against taking the region’s vote rich bloc for granted.
“Anyone who wants our support must respect this region. We will not allow our people to be disrespected again,” Gachagua declared.
He noted that the region’s voting power remains decisive in determining the nation’s next head of state.

No More Blind Political Support
Reflecting on past alliances, Gachagua vowed that the region will not repeat previous political mistakes. He emphasized that they will not support anyone blindly like they did with President William Ruto.
“We supported President William Ruto blindly in the last election. That mistake will not happen again in 2027,” he stated.
According to him, Mount Kenya voters have learned hard lessons from their past political choices.
Tough Demands for 2027 Candidates
The former Deputy President revealed plans to publish a list of non-negotiable demands soon. Presidential hopefuls must fulfill these requirements before securing any negotiations with the region.
“We are preparing clear demands that will be unveiled soon. Whoever listens to us and agrees to our terms will get our backing,” Gachagua added.
He urged leaders like Kalonzo, Sifuna, and Matiang’i to prepare for rigorous engagements. The Mount Kenya region plans to approach the 2027 General Election as a united front.
