Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has strongly condemned an incident in Homa Bay County where a motorcade carrying leaders of the Linda Mwananchi team was stoned by alleged goons.
The affected leaders—including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino—were forced to alter their planned rally routes after violent confrontations disrupted their procession.
Viral videos capturing the chaos showed state vehicles and political motorcades taking evasive action as angry youth pelted them with stones.
Speaking during a church service, Gachagua directly accused President William Ruto and key operatives within the Kenya Kwanza administration of sponsoring political violence to intimidate opposition figures and critical voices.
He maintained that state-sanctioned goonism is a desperate tactic by a government that has lost touch with its citizens.

“It is deeply unfortunate for a government to reign terror against its own people who are simply tired of failed leadership,” Gachagua stated, arguing that the administration is turning to intimidation out of fear.
The former Deputy President further declared that his political alignment will rectify these governance failures once they assume power in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
He called on law enforcement agencies to maintain neutrality rather than acting as political tools for state operatives.
The political tempers surrounding the Linda Mwananchi initiatives signal escalating friction across the country as regional alignments and early campaigns for 2027 continue to take center stage.
State officials are yet to issue an official response regarding the state-sponsored violence allegations.
