Gachagua Reacts to Junet Mohamed’s Impeachment Bribe Admission
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a response following explosive public remarks by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who alleged that lawmakers were paid millions of shillings to secure Gachagua’s impeachment.
Speaking during a political rally in Kakamega County, Junet claimed that cash was actively circulating in Parliament during the historic vote to remove the former DP.
In a direct accusation, Junet named Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot as the “accounting officer” tasked with distributing the funds among legislators. Junet went on to mock colleagues who received the payout, suggesting they failed to make meaningful investments back home with the money.

Addressing members of the press in Meru County, Gachagua described Junet’s confession as “unfortunate remarks” that validate his long-held stance that his ouster was a politically driven process fueled by bribery rather than constitutional merits.
Gachagua called on the judiciary, specifically the judges presiding over his ongoing appeal, to take note of Junet’s public admission. He urged the courts to do the right thing and uphold justice as he continues to challenge the validity of his impeachment.
“The confession by the minority leader only confirms what we have said all along about the compromise of parliament during that process,” Gachagua stated, expressing confidence that the court of appeal will carefully examine the circumstances surrounding the vote.
The bombshell admission has ignited fresh political debate across the country, adding intense scrutiny to the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding Gachagua’s removal from office.
