Video: DP Kindiki Left Shocked After Jubilee Defector Makes Slip of the Tongue in Samburu
MARALAL, SAMBURU — Deputy President Kithure Kindiki was left visibly stunned during a public event in Samburu County after a defector from the Jubilee Party suffered an embarrassing slip of the tongue while declaring his political shift to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
The Deputy President had just returned to the country after representing Kenya at the African Business Summit in Uganda before flying directly to Samburu County for official engagements.
As part of his itinerary, DP Kindiki presided over a welcoming ceremony for several local politicians and aspirants who were formally jumping ship from the former ruling Jubilee Party to UDA.
However, what was intended to be a smooth political triumph for the ruling party took an unexpected turn when one of the defectors took the microphone.
Addressing the crowd and dignitaries on the main dais, the aspirant enthusiastically declared how thrilled he was to “finally join the Jubilee Party”—the very outfit he was supposed to be leaving behind.

The blunder triggered immediate reaction across the venue. Video footage capturing the incident showed DP Kindiki looking visibly shocked and confused by the statement, while members of the crowd and local leaders burst into lighthearted laughter.
Realizing the gaffe, Deputy President Kindiki promptly stepped in to correct the aspirant, reminding him that the movement was from Jubilee into the UDA party, not vice versa.
The aspirant quickly corrected himself, attributing the mix-up to crowd excitement.
DP Kindiki subsequently welcomed all the defectors into the UDA fold, emphasizing that the party remains committed to uniting leaders across all regions to drive national development forward.
