Climax Bus Management has finally broken its silence days after the tragic road accident that claimed the life of the late Lugari Member of Parliament, Honorable Cyrus Jirongo, along the busy Nakuru–Nairobi highway.
However, instead of offering clarity, the company’s latest statement has sparked fresh questions and intensified public debate over what really happened on the fateful day.
For days, Kenyans have been demanding answers from the bus company, particularly regarding the whereabouts of passengers who were reportedly onboard the Climax bus involved in the accident.
Eyewitness accounts and initial statements from the bus driver suggested that the vehicle was carrying 65 passengers at the time of the crash. This number raised concerns about possible overloading and passenger safety.
In its official statement, Climax Bus Ltd contradicted the driver’s account, insisting that the bus was carrying only 46 passengers. According to the management, all passengers survived the accident and were later rescued by another Climax bus that was returning to Nairobi, allowing them to continue with their journey.

The conflicting figures have left many Kenyans confused and suspicious. Questions have been raised about why the driver’s account differs significantly from that of the company, and why no passenger has publicly come forward to confirm being on the bus at the time of the accident.
Social media users and leaders alike are now demanding that the company produce the alleged passengers or release a verified passenger manifest to clear the air.
The controversy has also reignited calls for a thorough and transparent investigation into Jirongo’s death, with demands that authorities independently verify all statements issued so far. Many Kenyans feel that the unanswered questions undermine public trust and fuel speculation surrounding the tragic incident.
As investigations continue, pressure is mounting on Climax Bus Management, the police, and relevant transport authorities to provide clear, consistent, and verifiable information to help the country understand the circumstances surrounding the death of the late legislator.
