Murang’a Woman Representative Bett Maina has sharply responded to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s recent interview, in which Gachagua praised former President Uhuru Kenyatta after long criticizing him.
Maina’s rebuttal highlights a broader discontent among some Mt Kenya leaders regarding the current approach to unity and political discourse.
In a statement, Maina argued that true unity in Mt Kenya cannot be achieved through forced praise or coercion.
She criticized Gachagua for using media platforms and public events to discuss unity rather than engaging in direct dialogue with other leaders. “Call the leaders to a round table,” Maina suggested.

She also recounted an episode during the inauguration of President William Ruto, where Kenyatta was humiliated by insults from the Deputy President. “Our focus should be on addressing the real issues our voters face,” Maina added.
“We need to fix the development and social problems in our areas urgently rather than indulging in impeachment gossip.”
Maina concluded her statement by urging a shift in focus towards tangible development and resolving pressing local issues, distancing herself from the political drama surrounding Kenyatta and Gachagua. Read more here
