Trouble For Gachagua As United Opposition Principal Sends In New Demands, Warns Him Of This
NAIROBI, Kenya — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua finds himself at a political crossroads following a sharp ultimatum from a key principal within the United Opposition alliance.
Speaking during a church service in the politically vital Mount Kenya region, former National Assembly Speaker and Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi expressed growing impatience with how the opposition’s strategy is unfolding.
He warned that the prolonged delay in naming a presidential flagbearer is severely costly to their political ambitions.

Muturi claimed that Kenyans are growing tired and restless due to the persistent hesitation from the coalition’s top leadership. He noted that the lack of clear direction has left millions of supporters confused and vulnerable to political poaching by rivals.
In a blunt assessment, Muturi cautioned that the public has begun viewing their indecisiveness as a sign of political cowardice.
The vibrant leader emphasized that the political clock is ticking rapidly toward the 2027 general election.
He directly called on Gachagua, alongside other key co-principals, to urgently assemble their campaign machinery and iron out the coalition’s leadership structure if they harbor any realistic hopes of unseating the current administration.
“We cannot afford to keep our supporters in the dark. If we want to win the 2027 election, we must align our team early and hit the campaign trail now,” Muturi stated.
The demands present an immediate headache for Gachagua, who has been aggressively working to solidify his hold on the Mount Kenya electorate.
With other heavyweights within the United Opposition pushing competing formulas for naming the alliance’s candidate, Muturi’s warning signals emerging friction that could threaten the co-principals’ fragile unity ahead of 2027.
