President William Ruto encountered a hostile reception from residents during his development tour in Kisumu.
A video widely shared on X shows the President struggling to address a crowd of irate youths. They demanded that he focus on implementing previously launched projects instead of relaunching new ones.
The clip captures a tense moment. The crowd, predominantly composed of young people, shouted down the President. They expressed their frustration over the perceived lack of progress on past promises.
The atmosphere was charged, with the youths showing little patience for Ruto’s attempts to engage with them.
President Ruto was accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Several cabinet secretaries were also with him, including those from the ODM party. Ruto appointed them following widespread protests from Generation Z.
The protests, which had demanded more inclusive leadership, seemingly influenced the President’s decision to incorporate opposition figures into his administration
The encounter in Kisumu has sparked widespread discussion online. Many are questioning the effectiveness of Ruto’s development agenda in the region.
The incident underscores the growing impatience among the youth, who are eager for tangible results from the government’s initiatives.
The video continues to circulate. We have yet to see how the President will address the concerns raised by the Kisumu youth.
