Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has issued a stern warning to Kenyans following emerging divisions within the Linda Mwananchi initiative.
Speaking during a radio interview, Sifuna revealed that a section of supporters within the movement has begun pushing a hardline stance, insisting that if he is not the preferred presidential candidate, they would abandon the initiative altogether.
The outspoken Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General cautioned against turning the movement into a personality-driven outfit, emphasizing that its core mission goes beyond individual ambitions.
According to Sifuna, such sentiments risk derailing the broader objective of uniting Kenyans under a common agenda.

Sifuna reiterated that the primary focus of the Linda Mwananchi initiative is to mobilize citizens and build a formidable front capable of challenging President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
He stressed that the struggle is not about securing a position on the ballot for himself or any other individual, but rather about fostering good governance and accountability.
“We must not reduce this movement to a one-man show. It is bigger than any of us,” Sifuna stated, urging supporters to remain disciplined and focused on the bigger picture.
He further disclosed that the initiative’s leadership plans to engage in consultations with like-minded stakeholders to identify and vet the most suitable candidate to face Ruto. The selection process, he noted, will be anchored on integrity, competence, and a proven track record in public service.
Sifuna’s remarks come at a time when political realignments are beginning to take shape ahead of 2027. His message signals a push for unity within the ranks, even as internal disagreements threaten to test the strength and cohesion of the emerging political movement.
