Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua received a rousing welcome in Murang’a County on Sunday, as he intensified his political mobilization ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The former second-in-command, who has remained vocal since his fallout with President William Ruto, toured Maragua in what analysts are interpreting as a strategic show of strength within the Mount Kenya region.
Gachagua, accompanied by a host of allied leaders, was greeted by large crowds chanting slogans and singing in his support.
The enthusiastic reception underscored his growing influence in the region, often regarded as a critical voting bloc in national politics.
Addressing residents, Gachagua did not mince his words, warning that leaders he termed as “traitors” to the region would face political consequences in the 2027 polls.
In his speech, Gachagua framed his movement as a people-driven pushback against what he described as a “punitive regime.”
