ODM MP Defends IG Masengeli After Sentencing, Alleges Who Should Be Arrested And Jailed Instead

The conviction and jailing of acting inspector general of Police Gilbert Masengeli has elicited mixed reactions online. Kenyans are still debating on way forward after High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi decision.

A section of them are praising the judge for making a bold decision in respect to defending rule of law. However, some are calling his decision Judicial activism claiming it might set poor leadership. Saboti member of Parliament Caleb Hamisi has alleged that it is former police boss Koome who should be arrested and Jailed and not Masengeli.

According to Orange democratic Party member of Parliament. Acting Inspector General of Police is new in office and all that he is accused of was created by Japheth Koome. He has claimed that Masengeli is an intelligent guy who is going to revive the police service at all cost.

“The court should sermon former inspector general of Police Japheth Koome. He is the one who was in charge when Kenyans were killed during protests. The new IG is only few days in office and should not be blamed for such activities.” Said Caleb Hamisi.

Masengeli crime was failing to appear before the court and explain what happened to youths who were abducted in Kitengela. He failed to appear seven times prompting the judge to take such drastic action against him. Kenyans are waiting to see if the acting inspector general of Police will present himself to commissioner of prisons.
