Siaya County Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga, the elder brother to the late Orange Democratic Party (ODM) leader Hon. Raila Odinga, has dismissed claims that the family has banned Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga from visiting Raila’s grave in Bondo, Siaya County.
Speaking during an interview with the local television station, Oburu stated that despite Governor Kahiga’s controversial remarks appearing to celebrate Raila’s death, the family holds no grudge against him.
He emphasized that Raila was a man of peace and forgiveness, and the family intends to honor that legacy.

“The family of Raila Odinga has not banned anyone, including Governor Kahiga, from visiting his grave to pay their last respects. Raila was a forgiving leader who loved all Kenyans regardless of political differences,” Oburu said.
His clarification comes after reports that Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga’s team had announced that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Governor Kahiga were not welcome in Bondo.
The reports sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with some calling for unity in mourning the former Prime Minister.
Oburu urged leaders to exercise restraint and focus on preserving Raila’s message of peace, unity, and national reconciliation even in the wake of his passing.
