“Nothing Has Changed”: Kindiki Breaks Silence on Alleged Loss of Power to Mudavadi
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed reports claiming a key docket was stripped from his office. Recent media stories alleged his intergovernmental coordination role was transferred to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Speaking to journalists, Kindiki clarified that executive duties remain intact across government ministries. He reassured the public that no institutional realignment has taken place inside the presidency.
“Nothing has changed in my designated mandate,” Kindiki stated firmly. “The executive structure remains as mandated by the Constitution and official gazette notices.”
Reports published by The Standard suggested a silent power shift within the Kenya Kwanza administration. The media report claimed the intergovernmental docket moved to Mudavadi’s office to streamline regional affairs.

However, Kindiki described those claims as total speculation intended to create unnecessary political tension. He urged media houses to verify official government communication before publishing misleading stories.
“Our primary focus is delivering development projects to Kenyans,” Kindiki added. “We work as a united team under President William Ruto.”
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has not issued any statement regarding the disputed docket. Political analysts note that executive functions can only change through an official Executive Order.
County governors rely heavily on the intergovernmental docket to resolve revenue sharing and legislative conflicts. Kindiki assured county leadership that devolution support remains fully active and prioritized by his office.
For now, Deputy President Kindiki maintains full charge of relations between national and county governments. The national executive continues its daily operations without operational friction or administrative confusion.
