Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has sharply responded to accusations by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who recently alleged that Kindiki is being “commanded” by President William Ruto’s personal aide, Farouk Kibet. Gachagua claimed that the Deputy President is being held “hostage” by individuals close to State House, rendering him incapable of executing his mandate independently.
Speaking in Mbeere North on Wednesday during an intense campaign rally for the upcoming by-election, Kindiki dismissed Gachagua’s remarks as baseless and motivated by desperation. He warned the former DP to stop painting himself as a political victim while attacking leaders in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“Gachagua, just like former ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo, came to Kenya with a lot of issues and attempted to jail Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto but failed,” Kindiki said. “He should go slow on attacking the government and leaders from Embu County, including Governor Cecily Mbarire.”

The Deputy President insisted that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains united and focused, arguing that the Embu leadership will not be intimidated by what he termed as Gachagua’s “tribal and retrogressive politics.”
Kindiki also expressed confidence that UDA candidate Wamudhende will defeat the united opposition candidate Hon. Karish in the November 27 by-election. He said the outcome will mark a political turning point in the region.
“Once Wamudhende wins, people will forget Gachagua and his divisive brand of politics,” Kindiki stated, vowing to “deal with” the former DP “once and for all” after the polls.
The escalating political confrontation highlights widening rifts between Gachagua and senior Kenya Kwanza leaders, even as both sides trade accusations in the heated buildup to the Mbeere North by-election.
