Nelson Havi Advices Sifuna What To Do Urgently After Chaotic Homa Bay Rally

Following violent disruptions during a political rally in Homa Bay County, former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has called on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Siaya Governor James Orengo to take immediate political action.

The advice comes after a section of youth barricaded access roads, pelted vehicles with stones, and disrupted the “Linda Mwananchi” rally led by Sifuna, Orengo, and other opposition figures.

The chaos escalated into widespread destruction, leaving several convoy vehicles vandalized and personal belongings stolen. Media crews covering the event were caught in the scuffle, resulting in injuries to journalists and theft of broadcasting equipment.

Addressing the fallout on social media, Nelson Havi urged Sifuna and Orengo to shift their strategy from highlighting regional grievances to actively seeking new leadership for Homa Bay County.

“After exposing the deplorable state of road infrastructure and unemployment in Homa Bay County, Edwin Sifuna and James Orengo should now source for credible replacements for the current Governor and Senator of that County,” Havi stated.

Havi’s remarks underscore growing tensions within the local political landscape. Critics allege that local administration and political factions orchestrating the violence are seeking to suppress opposition voices.

By calling for the replacement of the current leadership—headed by Governor Gladys Wanga and Senator Moses Kajwang’—Havi frames the hostile reception as a sign that the county urgently requires fresh governance to address chronic infrastructure defects and youth unemployment.

Sifuna’s team condemned the violence, asserting that political intimidation will not stop them from rallying citizens around constitutional rights and democratic accountability. Security agencies face mounting pressure to investigate the violence and bring the perpetrators to justice.
