Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro Decries “State-Sponsored Violence” as DCP Triumphs in High-Stakes Ol-Kalou By-Election
OL-KALOU, KENYA – Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has broke his silence following the high-stakes Ol-Kalou parliamentary by-election, where the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate, Sammy Douglas Kamau Ngotho, clinched a decisive victory over the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate.
Taking to his official communication channels, the prominent lawmaker congratulated the newly elected MP alongside Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Wanjiku Muhia for successfully steering the DCP campaign to a triumphant finish.
“Congratulations Sammy Douglas Kamau Ngotho on your decisive election as the MP for Ol Kalou,” Nyoro stated, wishing him the best in his new capacity.

Condemning State Excesses
However, the Kiharu legislator did not mince his words regarding the conduct of the mini-poll. He sharply criticized what he described as a worrying trend of “unprecedented state-sponsored violence” that marred the electoral process.
Nyoro warned that such occurrences present a dangerous precedent for the country, especially as political players gear up for the upcoming general elections.
“It is the sole responsibility of the Government to protect citizens and the pattern of lethargy and active condoning of violence was blatant,” Nyoro remarked, pointing out a conspicuous lack of intervention by state actors.
A Call for Institutional Independence
With tensions high in the Mt. Kenya region following the intense political contest, Nyoro urged key public entities to remain neutral. He explicitly called out the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and national security apparatuses, demanding that they rise above political alignments.
“Our state institutions, especially the IEBC and all security organs, must strive to steer clear of political alignments and serve all Kenyans fairly with dignity and decorum,” the lawmaker added.
The Ol-Kalou by-election, triggered by the passing of former MP David Kiaraho, was widely viewed as a crucial litmus test for political supremacy in the region. Nyoro concluded his statement on a pan-African note, reiterating, “We are African and Africa is our Business.”
