MATHIOYA, KENYA — Song, dance, and a palpable sense of relief took over Mathioya Constituency today as local Member of Parliament, Honorable Edwin Gichuki, fulfilled a major campaign promise aimed at transforming the area’s economic landscape.
In a colorful handover ceremony attended by hundreds of residents and local leaders, the MP officially delivered the long-awaited Kangunu Coffee Factory Milk Lorry.
The vehicle, which locals have hailed as a massive game-changer, represents a joint commitment made to the community by the legislator and President William Samoei Ruto.

For years, dairy farmers in the region have battled the heavy burden of high transport costs and severe post-harvest losses, watching their hard work spoil before reaching profitable markets.
The new milk lorry is set to fix these logistical nightmares. Local farmers expressed overwhelming joy, noting that the truck will drastically improve collection speeds, protect the quality of their produce, and keep more money in their pockets.
However, the agricultural boost did not stop with dairy. In a strategic move to revive the area’s cash crop potential, Hon. Gichuki also distributed 20,000 high-yield coffee seedlings to the Kangunu Coffee Farmers Co-operative Society.
The initiative aims to enhance crop productivity and ultimately lift the earnings of local coffee growers, who form the backbone of the Mathioya economy.

Recognizing that a community’s future depends heavily on its younger generation, the MP also extended his empowerment drive to local youths.
During the event, he handed over three new motorbikes to three young residents to help them kickstart small businesses, offering them an immediate path toward self-employment and financial independence.
“These milestones demonstrate the power of visionary leadership, keeping promises, and investing in projects that directly transform lives,” Hon. Gichuki stated during the handover.

“We remain committed to building a more prosperous Mathioya where every farmer, youth, and family has an opportunity to thrive.”
The groundswell of appreciation from the crowd quickly turned political.
Impressed by the tangible results, a cross-section of residents openly asserted that Hon. Gichuki has already secured his path to a second term in office. Many noted that his practical, grassroots track record stands unmatched by neighboring legislators in recent times.

The high-profile event drew several notable leaders who came out to support the developmental milestone. Among the key dignitaries present were Murang’a County Woman Representative, Hon. Betty Maina, and Nominated MCA, Hon. Jane Mukami, both of whom praised the MP’s unwavering focus on local empowerment.
As the celebrations wound down under the taglines #UtheriWaMathioya and #WiraWiYarie (The Work Speaks For Itself), the mood across the constituency remained highly optimistic.
For the people of Mathioya, it wasn’t just about receiving assets—it was proof that their leadership listens, shows up, and delivers on its word.
