Nyeri County governor has finally resigned after Pressure from the general public over his statement on the passing of the late Orange democratic Party leader Honorable Raila Odinga. Speaking in Kieni on October 21, 2025.
Kahiga Celebrated the passing on of Raila Odinga insisting that he was taking the developments meant for Mount Kenya region to Nyanza and Western region.
Through his official social media platforms, Kahiga has resigned the council of governors vice chairperson.

He has also apologized to the family of the late Raila Odinga for any pain his statement might have caused during these difficult times. However, he has claimed that his remarks were taken out of context.
He has also clarified that his Remarks are personal and should not be linked to anyone he is politically affiliated with.
A section of Kenyans had linked his remarks to the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Speaking to the Media, Homabay County governor Wanga claimed that the Remarks were associated with Gachagua who is a close ally of Gachagua.
