The National Assembly is mourning the loss of a seasoned legislator following the death of Ol Kalou Member of Parliament, David Njuguna Kiaraho.
The lawmaker passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, while receiving specialized medical treatment in India.
Kiaraho’s death marks the end of a political era for Ol Kalou, a constituency he represented for over a decade.
He first entered Parliament in 2013 and successfully defended his seat in both the 2017 and 2022 General Elections, a testament to the deep-rooted support he maintained within Nyandarua County.
A Legacy of Legislative Service
Beyond his constituency duties, Kiaraho was a prominent figure in the National Assembly. He was an active member of the Transport, Public Works, and Housing Committee, where he played a role in overseeing national infrastructure projects.
His colleagues also knew him for his work on the Procedure and House Rules Committee, which governs the legislative processes of the House.
Local leaders and residents have described the late MP as a champion for rural development.

He was particularly vocal about improving the road networks in Nyandarua to assist farmers in transporting produce to markets, a move that bolstered the local economy.
National Mourning
As news of his passing reached Kenya, tributes began pouring in from across the political divide. Leaders have praised Kiaraho for his approachability and his commitment to public service.
“Kenya has lost a dedicated servant and a man of great integrity,” noted one parliamentary colleague. “His focus on infrastructure and his quiet, effective leadership style will be missed in the halls of Bunge.”
While the specific details of his long-term illness remain private, his family and the government are expected to release further information regarding burial arrangements in the coming days.
For now, Ol Kalou remains in a state of mourning as they reflect on the life of a leader who dedicated thirteen years to their service.
