Breaking her silence on Facebook, the outspoken lawmaker delivered a passionate plea for peace, condemning the use of violence to resolve political disputes.
“I hate the kind of politics I am witnessing in Homabay today. Brother against brother using pangas. Sister against sister using pangas. Attack your opponents with ideas. Achayo kabisa,” Odhiambo posted.
Emphasizing that political tolerance and civil discourse must prevail, Odhiambo reminded politicians that ideological debate—not physical intimidation—should drive democratic competition.
The Suba North MP did not spare executive leadership, directly addressing Cabinet Secretary for Interior Kipchumba Murkomen regarding the breakdown of law and order.
“CS Murkomen, the issue of security starts and stops with you. When people in Homabay harm each other, the buck stops with you,” she added.
The assault on Sifuna’s entourage has highlighted growing political rivalries in Nyanza region ahead of upcoming political realignments. As tensions rise, human rights defenders and political leaders continue to urge the Ministry of Interior to investigate the incident promptly, arrest the perpetrators, and ensure that public political gatherings remain secure for all citizens regardless of their political affiliations.
