Former law society of Kenya President, Nelson Havi has spoken out following the death of Dr. Job Obwaka, squarely blaming the government for what he termed as sustained harassment that may have contributed to the medic’s demise.
Dr. Obwaka was pronounced dead on Saturday after he reportedly collapsed at home and was being rushed to hospital by his family. His sudden death has sparked widespread reactions among Kenyans, with leaders and professionals expressing shock and grief.
In a strongly worded statement shared on his social media platforms, Havi expressed both sorrow and anger, linking Obwaka’s death to recent events surrounding his arrest.
The doctor had earlier been detained for three days over alleged leadership wrangles at Nairobi Hospital, an incident that had already attracted public scrutiny.

“Harassment by the Government of Kenya, its interference with the management of the Nairobi Hospital, and trumped up charges definitely accelerated the deterioration of the health of Dr. Job Obwaka and his untimely death. I am sad and annoyed,” Havi stated.
His remarks add to growing criticism directed at authorities over their handling of disputes within the hospital’s leadership. However, the government is yet to officially respond to the allegations.
As investigations into the circumstances surrounding Obwaka’s death continue, Kenyans remain divided, with some calling for accountability while others urge restraint until full details emerge.
