Gachagua Dismisses DCI Summons, Rejects Link to Doctor’s Murder Suspects
Democracy for the Citizens’ Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has firmly rejected calls from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to record a statement at their headquarters regarding the murder investigation of Dr. Victoria Mutiso.
Speaking in Kiambu on Friday, August 7, Gachagua responded to claims made by DCI Boss Mohamed Amin, who alleged that detectives uncovered communications between Gachagua and prime suspects, including a boda boda rider linked to the crime scene.

Dismissing the claims, the former Deputy President maintained that he is “above the level of the DCI and the police,” adding that investigators seeking his statement must travel to his home in Wamunyoro.
“I was in Wamunyoro, and if you think someone called me, why don’t you come to my home and I will write a statement, because I cannot come to you,” Gachagua stated.
Gachagua claimed that DCI Amin was attempting to link him to the suspects to mask leaks within the police service itself. He insisted that classified information regarding the case was shared with him by whistleblowing law enforcement officers.
Furthermore, the DCP leader accused DCI Amin of orchestrating a cover-up on instructions from Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen. He also claimed to possess a separate dossier detailing police officers involved in a recent disruption of worshippers at Witima Church.
The standoff follows revelations by DCI Amin that two police officers—Police Constable Elijah Kibelion Kemboi and Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang—were directly involved in executing the murder alongside civilian organizers Daniel Mwangi Njoroge and Kelvin Ngugi Kinuthia. Amin argued that Gachagua should have privately shared any intelligence with investigators rather than airing it publicly.
