GACHAGUA REVEALS LUO MENTORS, ANNOUNCES NYANZA TOUR
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has publicly named the senior administrators from the Luo community who mentored him early in his public service career.
Addressing members of the press, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader sought to dispel narrative claims of animosity between himself and Nyanza, emphasizing his longstanding personal and political links with the region.
Gachagua singled out former District Commissioner Samuel Eric Oreta and former Provincial Commissioner Peter Raburu as foundational figures during his early years as a District Officer in the provincial administration.

“There’s no conflict whatsoever between the Luo nation and Mt Kenya,” Gachagua stated. “The man who mentored me into leadership is a Luo man—Samuel Eric Oreta. Peter Raburu taught me a lot.”

Broader Outreach to Nyanza
Gachagua dismissed attempts by political detractors to create a rift between Mt. Kenya and Luo Nyanza, reiterating that both regions share historical goodwill. Declaring an upcoming political tour across the region, he promised visits to Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, and Kisumu.
“Don’t try to come between me and the Luo nation,” Gachagua warned rivals, setting the stage for his outreach to consolidate support under the United Alternative Government opposition alliance.
