Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka have once again found themselves at the centre of national political debate after issuing contradicting statements that left Kenyans puzzled.
The two leaders, who have recently featured prominently in discussions surrounding Nairobi County politics, met face-to-face today following a day of public confusion.
The drama began when Gachagua, speaking during a church service in Kariobangi North, claimed that he had held talks with Kalonzo and that the two had agreed to leave Nairobi County seats to the Democratic Congress Party (DCP).
According to Gachagua, the understanding was part of a broader strategy meant to streamline cooperation among political parties.

However, in a swift and firm rebuttal, Kalonzo dismissed the claims, insisting that no such agreement existed. His remarks sparked mixed reactions among opposition supporters and fueled speculation about emerging rifts.
The two leaders met today at the memorial service of the late Joseph Munyao, a former Minister in President Mwai Kibaki’s administration.
The event, held at Nairobi Baptist Church, drew several high-profile leaders including DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Prime Cabinet Secretary JB Muturi.
Their meeting drew significant attention from mourners and the public alike, with many keen to see whether the leaders would address the confusion surrounding their recent statements.
While both refrained from making political pronouncements at the solemn event, their cordial interaction was seen as a sign that efforts to manage the fallout were underway.
Joseph Munyao, remembered as a dedicated statesman and a key pillar of the Democratic Party founded by former President Mwai Kibaki, passed away at the age of 85. His memorial brought together leaders across political lines, offering a moment of unity amid the ongoing political intrigue.
