Gachagua Cautions Successor Kindiki, Claims Ruto Is Tactically Playing Him Ahead of 2027 Polls
NAIROBI, Kenya — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a blunt warning to his successor, His Excellency Kithure Kindiki, claiming that President William Ruto is employing tactical moves to isolate and play him ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking from his residence, Gachagua alleged that the current political script unfolding around Kindiki mirrors the events that preceded his own unceremonious impeachment.
Gachagua noted that during his own tenure, President Ruto would frequently organize high-profile photo sessions and public displays of unity whenever political tension mounted, even while secretly orchestrating his political downfall behind the scenes.
“I warned you, Kindiki. See now how you are being frustrated,” Gachagua stated, cautioning leaders against placing absolute faith in administration promises that could be abandoned as political realignments take shape.
The former Deputy President’s reaction followed the recent circulation of late-night photographs featuring President Ruto and DP Kindiki at State House.

Gachagua was removed from office after impeachment proceedings citing insubordination and allegations of promoting tribal politics by prioritizing his Mt. Kenya home region.
However, he maintains that his exit was politically motivated, warning Kindiki that photo opportunities will not guarantee political survival when power dynamics shift toward the 2027 contest.
