OSORO CRITICIZES SIFUNA OVER POLITICS OF OPTICS
National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro launched a blistering attack against Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna during a political gathering in Mombasa, dismissing the lawmaker’s public rallies and communication style as empty theatrics devoid of substance.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters, the South Mugirango Member of Parliament took aim at the former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, faulting his habit of repeatedly asking crowd members whether they can see him when holding a microphone.
Osoro questioned the relevance of such public appeals, mockingly asking whether political leadership had turned into a beauty pageant where physical appearance supersedes service delivery.
The ruling coalition legislator argued that ordinary citizens are interested in tangible development outcomes, economic solutions, and completed infrastructure projects rather than self-absorbed podium posturing.
He cautioned that public hype and cheering crowds do not equate to actual votes, urging Sifuna to focus on constructive policies instead of engaging in constant drama to build a national profile.
The fiery exchange highlights the deepening rivalry between the government side and opposition elements as political leaders crisscross the country to consolidate regional support bases.
By directly questioning Sifuna’s approach to public rallies, Osoro sought to paint the Nairobi Senator as a politician relying on performance rather than a solid development record.
The onslaught comes amid ongoing realignments within the opposition spectrum and heightened political activity along the coastal region.
As national debates intensify over economic performance and governance metrics, both the ruling administration and opposition figures continue to exchange heavy blows, signaling an increasingly aggressive political environment as major factions position themselves for future electoral battles.
