NATEMBEYA WARNS EXECUTIVE OVER ELECTORAL INTEGRITY
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has escalated his public opposition against the executive, warning President William Ruto against alleged plots to manipulate future electoral rolls through cross-border voter registration.
Speaking directly to border security and electoral fairness, the county chief declared that any attempts to import foreign nationals into local voter databases in Trans Nzoia would be met with resolute resistance on the ground.
The former administrator turned governor addressed reports suggesting that individuals from neighboring Uganda were acquiring identification documents within border constituencies such as Endebess.
Natembeya maintained that while cross-border commerce and agricultural interactions remain welcome, foreign nationals must refrain from meddling in internal electoral affairs.
He vowed to safeguard local polling stations, asserting that non-citizens would not participate in determining Kenyan political leadership.
Broadening his warning to the national leadership, Natembeya cautioned the administration against pursuing illegitimate avenues to secure political power.
Drawing on his prior experience in state administration, he recalled historical instances of political instability triggered by disputed polls, stressing that an election victory achieved through manipulation yields an unsustainable mandate.
He argued that even if an incumbent succeeds in forcing a favorable outcome, leading a disillusioned and aggrieved nation presents insurmountable governance challenges.
The fiery address underscores growing anxieties over electoral administration ahead of future national contests.
Natembeya urged state agencies to focus on transparent processes and democratic accountability rather than resorting to tactics that compromise state security and public trust.
The remarks add to the rising tension between regional leaders and the central government over voter registration protocols and institutional integrity.
