Video: Seemingly Angry Ruto Goes After Gachagua, Warns Him “You Don’t Know Who You’re Dealing With”
NANDI COUNTY — In an explosive escalation of the bitter political fallout within Kenya’s top leadership elite, President William Ruto has launched a scathing public attack against his former political ally and deposed Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking passionately during a public function in Nandi County, a visibly angry Head of State—who recently jetted back into the country after attending the G7 Summit in France—warned Gachagua that he is severely underestimating his administration, telling him, “You don’t know who you’re dealing with.”

The President’s remarks directly targeted Gachagua’s character and past record in public service, completely dismantling his predecessor’s moral standing to critique the current government.
President Ruto claimed that Gachagua was a “petty thief” who had previously been dismissed from his role as a public administrator for allegedly stealing relief food meant for vulnerable women and children.
“You cannot lecture anyone in this country about helping the poor when you were busy looting food meant for the hungry,” President Ruto stated.
Furthermore, the Head of State dismissed Gachagua’s political track record, pointing out that his former deputy only served a single term as a Member of Parliament before his political career was derailed by an overwhelming impeachment.
According to Ruto, parliamentarians rightly fired Gachagua for promoting deep-rooted tribalism and spreading national division rather than fostering unity across the republic.
The scathing lecture comes as Gachagua increasingly uses his new political vehicle, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), to aggressively campaign for a “one-term” presidency against Ruto.
By invoking Gachagua’s controversial past as a District Officer (DO), President Ruto sought to firmly remind the nation that his vocal predecessor completely lacks the moral authority to lecture Kenyans on governance or demand leadership accountability.
