Public Uproar After Farouk Kibet “Lectures” Governor Ken Lusaka at Public Event
KHWISERO, Kenya — A video showing Farouk Kibet, the powerful personal aide to President William Ruto, seemingly lecturing Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka like a schoolchild has sparked massive public outrage across Kenya.
The viral incident occurred during an empowerment drive in Khwisero, Kakamega County. In the video, which has heavily trended on social media, Governor Lusaka is seen concluding his speech and moving away from the microphone to exit the podium.
However, a visibly agitated Farouk Kibet abruptly intercepts him, commanding the county boss to return to the stand.
Forced Chants Spark Backlash
The reason for the sudden confrontation? The Governor had forgotten to rally the crowd with political slogans for the President.

A humbled Lusaka immediately obliged the aide’s demands. He took back the microphone and quickly charged the crowd with loud chants of “Ruto, two terms!” to satisfy the strict personal assistant before finally being allowed to leave the stage.
Public Reaction: “This is an absolute mockery of devolution and the offices our leaders hold. An appointed aide should never humiliate an elected governor in public.” — Popular comment on X (formerly Twitter).
Kenyans Defend Devolution
The footage has triggered a fierce wave of criticism from Kenyans online, who argue that the display was highly disrespectful to an elected leader who commands a massive mandate from the people of Bungoma.
Many expressed concerns over the immense, unchecked power that the President’s personal aide appears to wield over senior government officials.
While political allies have played down the incident as standard high-energy political mobilization, the public remains up in arms. Critics emphasize that regardless of political hierarchy, the dignity of the Governor’s office must be respected at all times.
