George Natembeya has finally addressed growing public speculation over his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election, putting to rest claims that he could be eyeing a higher national seat.
Speaking during an event in Trans-Nzoia County, the county boss made it clear that he will be defending his gubernatorial seat while continuing to champion the interests of the Western region.
His remarks come after weeks of pressure from supporters and critics alike demanding clarity following his intensified political mobilization across the region.
Through his popular TAWE movement, Natembeya has been traversing Western Kenya calling for Luhya unity and a more assertive political voice.
In several public addresses, he has openly criticized the leadership styles of Moses Wetang’ula and Musalia Mudavadi, accusing them of failing to strategically position the community in national politics.

According to Natembeya, the Western region has for years lagged behind due to what he termed as “misguided leadership” that has not fully leveraged its numerical strength. His bold stance sparked speculation that he could be preparing a presidential or deputy presidential bid in 2027.
However, addressing residents and leaders at the Trans-Nzoia event, Natembeya dismissed the claims, stating that his immediate focus remains on consolidating development gains in the county. He emphasized that defending his seat does not mean stepping back from national politics.
“I will be on the table where critical decisions are made,” he declared, assuring supporters that his voice will continue to be felt in shaping the country’s political direction.
He urged residents not to be anxious about his political trajectory, maintaining that his strategy is well calculated and aimed at empowering the Western region both locally and nationally.
With the 2027 race gradually taking shape, Natembeya’s declaration is expected to influence political alignments within the Western bloc as leaders reposition themselves for the high-stakes contest.
