Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has sent a strong political signal after making a high-profile appearance in the Mount Kenya region alongside former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The duo’s entry into Murang’a County, captured in a video that has since gone viral, has sparked excitement and fresh debate over the 2027 presidential race.
In the footage, Matiang’i is seen emerging confidently from a motorcade dressed in full Jubilee Party regalia as crowds cheer and wave. Residents turned out in large numbers, lining the roads and gathering at Muthithi Shopping Centre to catch a glimpse of the former powerful minister.

Gachagua, who took the microphone, formally introduced Matiang’i to the crowd, describing him as a leader capable of steering the country in a new direction. He urged Mount Kenya voters to rally behind the opposition and vote President William Ruto out of office in the 2027 General Election.
