Lamu County Woman Representative Muthoni Marubu faced a hostile reception from residents during a political meeting in Lamu, in an incident captured in a viral video that has sparked debate across the country.
The meeting, reportedly organized by leaders allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), turned chaotic when sections of the crowd began booing and heckling the legislator as she attempted to address them.
Efforts by other leaders present to calm the crowd and allow her to speak proved futile, forcing Muthoni to cut short her remarks and take her seat, visibly disappointed.
The incident comes just weeks after the vocal legislator publicly declared her support for President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
While attending a funeral in the Mt. Kenya region, Muthoni defended her decision, stating that aligning with the Head of State would help unlock development opportunities for Lamu County.

During the same event, she openly criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his calls to challenge Ruto’s leadership. Her remarks reportedly drew sharp reactions at the time, with the funeral gathering descending into chaos and forcing her to leave prematurely.
The latest heckling incident now raises questions about her political standing back home, especially as she eyes a senatorial bid in the next election cycle.
Political analysts note that such public backlash could signal growing dissatisfaction among constituents, or reflect wider national political divisions playing out at the grassroots level.
Neither Muthoni nor UDA officials had issued an official statement regarding the incident by the time of publication.
However, the video continues to circulate widely online, highlighting the increasingly charged political atmosphere as leaders position themselves ahead of 2027.
